Public Wall Art

I want to thank all of Home Hill for the positive feedback I’ve had in regard to the public wall art, there will be more.

Giru Show

We went and spent a great Saturday afternoon at the Giru show, bought a few tickets in various raffles and I’m still waiting for someone to call and let me know that I won.  One can only hope and dream.

The Giru show committee put in a lot of effort and the result is a great little show.

Local Job Opportunities

Creating opportunities for and in Home Hill, local jobs in our community sounds good but what can you do about it?

You are thinking well not much.

Our business has just employed a new apprentice after the last apprentice finished his time.  Let’s hope these two young people will stay in the Burdekin and work in their chosen trade.

We also have a high school student here for a week learning the ropes for maybe a career in hands on trade, time will tell.

Schools Can Help

A lot of people including myself try to improve Home Hill in any way possible but I was left speechless and really disappointed when I heard that the Home Hill High School is holding the grade 12 Graduation Dinner in Ayr not a good move by the adults who set this up, but on the other hand I wish these young people all the best in their next endeavour in life’s rocky road.

Works for Queensland

The Government is helping with Works for Queensland and closer to home they are talking $200 million improvement works to support the proposed hydro-electric power station, allowing for the potential rising of the dam wall to create more water storage for agriculture, urban growth etc.

Containers for Change

The Government Budget also implements the container refund scheme and plastic bag ban and not before time if you ever noticed the amount of rubbish along the side of the highway going to Townsville.

Roadside Rubbish

How hard is it to keep your rubbish inside of the car and dispose of it when you get home?

Council Works Update

Updates at Inkerman Hill are well under way and the road upgrade will to start soon. When finished it will be a great access to the Burdekin Shire.

Closer to home, the 4th Street upgrade is also well under way.
