Newsletter 33 – March 2018

Welcome to news from Home Hill, I would like to share information about our area the south of the river.

Free Dump Day

First we will look at the good news, I’ve brought up at council regarding a free dump day at the end of the year before the cyclone season and I’m happy to say council is looking into this and I’m hoping for a positive outcome will keep you posted.

Council already has free household recycling, free green waste and there was a free swimming pool day all sounds good.

Footpath along 7th Avenue

The footpath along 7th Avenue is underway with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Telstra being involved.  Some water services also have to be updated.

It’s all going to happen and we will have a safer 7th Avenue.

New Playground Equipment

New playground equipment has been ordered for Arch Dunn Park.

Mount Inkerman Nature Trail

The Mount Inkerman goat trail is well under way and council is getting very close to the opening of this upgrade.

Pidgeon Mess

There has been a remarkable drop off in pigeon numbers since I’ve asked Council to turn off the water fountain at the comfort stop and now this area needs a good clean up before the tourist season starts.

Inkerman Hill burn outs costs Rate Payers

The bad news is that the police have not yet been able to apprehend the person or persons responsible for the burn outs on Inkerman Hill. To have this cleaned up is a cost to every rate payer.

If you have any information or know the persons involved then report them to the police as you will be doing a community service.

Council Budget

With the third annual budget talks having begun, Council has hit the ground running with a lot of extra budget meetings.

I’m ready with a wish list for improvements as long as your arm.  I might be lucky and score a couple on the wish list to deliver a better outcome for the community.

Its councils mandate to provide good working infrastructure year round, while keeping in mind the need to meet compliance requirements and remaining financially sustainable.
