CHANGE is in the air at the Burdekin Shire Council, after Home Hill resident, Bill Lowis was voted in as Burdekin Shire mayor in the Local Government elections on the weekend.
Though the results are yet to be officially declared, with the councillor candidate results still pending, Mr Lowis had received 6090 votes (58.83 per cent), compared to Cr McLaughlin’s 4088 votes (40.17 per cent).
Five out of the six councillor positions are all but confirmed, with Home Hill businessman, Uli Liessmann receiving top votes, followed by Pierina Dalle Cort, Lou Loizou, Ted Bawden and Lyndy McCathie.
