Christmas Lights Award 2019

A positive report to the lead up to Christmas.

Christmas Lights Competition

The Home Hill Chamber held a very successful Christmas lights competition and I was impressed with the many people getting into the spirit and with great effort came up with some great light displays.

It was a hard call to pick a winner so the committee narrowed it down to a final ten and the winner was drawn out of the hat at the Christmas carol night at the comfort stop, the winner being the Kelly family in 4th Street.
In fact all the lights by all the locals were winners.

Christmas Carol Night

Christmas carol night was well attended and thanks to everyone for making the effort for this great night.

There is no party without music and this was supplied by the Burdekin Brass Band with the Home Hill Coral Society doing the vocals with many locals signing along and I know the kids just loved it, thanks to all who took part.

The Lions did their part with another great sausages sizzle and drinks keeping everyone happy.

Free Rubbish Dump Days

The free rubbish dump days at the end of November, were a great success, leading up to the coming cyclone season which I hope we miss out on but we really do need some rain.

Lower Burdekin Home for the Aged

I would like to suggest that the Burdekin Chambers of Home Hill and Ayr invite the whole board of L.B.H.A. to a community meeting some evening in the very near future.

The reason for the meeting is to give the L.B.H.A. Board an opportunity to explain the circumstances for the Board being in the position they were in.

This meeting would also give the Board the opportunity to explain where they are considering putting the surplus funds.

The process of selling the community owned Homes for the Aged appears to have been lacking community transparency up till now.

A meeting would solve some of these issues at least.

The Home Hill Chamber of Commerce looks forward to a positive response from L.B.H.A. Board.

The date and time of the meeting would need to be sooner rather than later.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

On behalf of Loretta and me, we wish all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
